31.01. Warsaw (PAP / Reuters) – The US company Chevron completes shale gas exploration in Poland – Reuters reported on Saturday. Agency says that, contrary to expectations, this sector has failed to transform the energy supply market in the region.

The Polish branch of the second largest oil company in the United States decided to end the search for shale gas in Poland, as the country is not competitive compared to other countries in which the company operates – said in a statement.

In recent years, the Polish Ministry of the Environment has issued more than 100 licenses for exploration of unconventional gas in Poland, including for companies: Chevron, PGNiG, Lotos and Orlen Upstream. From the Polish withdrew but some companies, such as Exxon, Total and Marathon.

The Minister of Economy Janusz Piechociński believes that the withdrawal is a consequence of Chevron collapse of oil prices on world markets. “It may be that this downward trend in prices will collapse very quickly and you will have to prepare for other scenarios, as it was the least of the franc. He fired recently for 5,17 zł in one day, and today we know that it is less than 4 zł. Let the smoke settles a major international speculation. It’s not like that you have to immediately demolish the existing model, “- said Piechociński on Saturday.
