Ukrainian president’s press service informs that Petro Poroshenko already met Leszek Balcerowicz. He said that Ukraine, which is currently the object of aggression, needs international support in order to stabilize the economy.

At the same time – according to him – in the country are now favorable conditions for reform. – We have a government with great potential, very professional and pro-European – Poroshenko said. He stressed that Ukraine is particularly interested in the Polish experience in the reform of local government. Ukrainian President also said that Poland is a model of a country that has successfully reformed its economy and became a full member of the European Union.

Leszek Balcerowicz estimated that the main thing now is that Ukraine has proved its will to reform. In his opinion, Kiev must rebuild the budget, reduce spending while protecting the poorest sections of society. He recalled that in Poland the need to reduce the budget deficit was at the expense of reducing the pension fund. With time, also raised the retirement age.

Leszek Balcerowicz, the “father” of the Polish market economic reforms, was Deputy , Minister of Finance, as well as the head of the Polish National Bank.
