According to EU regulations, butter consists of 80-90 percent. fat milk and may comprise a vegetable fat. When conducted by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection proceedings in accredited laboratories tested samples Masmal Oil companies and found that: Butter Extra contained 61.8 percent. vegetable fat, butter extra 100% original – 14 percent. vegetable fat, butter extra Amir – 11.73 percent. According to the law, such products may not be called butter. Meanwhile labels Masmal oils Dairy erroneously inform consumers that the packaging is an oil and as this product, customers are buying them.
For violation of the collective interests of consumers OCCP punished punishment Dairy Masmal 1 471 250 zł and ordered to discontinue placing customers in error. The penalty was influenced by long-term use of such practices and deliberate undervaluation quality of the butter in spite of earlier decisions IH and the OCCP. The decision of the Office of the company may appeal to the court.
What to remember when buying dairy products – can OCCP
1. Names of butter, cheese, yogurt, kefir, sour cream can be used for products derived exclusively from cow’s milk.
2. Butter contains from 80 to 90 percent. milk fat and not a gram of plant. It may also be up to 16 percent. of water and up to 2 percent. so. non-fat dry milk (eg. protein).
3. The stores are also products of the names:
– 3/4 of the butter fat content – contains 60-62 percent. milk fat and not a gram of plant,
– butter semi – contains 39-41 percent. dairy fat or vegetable grams
– fatty mixes – depending on the manufacturer contain from 10 to 80 percent. milk fat and vegetable fat,
– vegetable oil – despite its name, is a margarine which contains vegetable fat. Trade name of this product is valid in Poland for 70 years.
– margarine – its main ingredient is vegetable fat, according to the law can only contain up to 3 percent. milk fat.
4. Check the composition, when you are buying the “Extra spreads”, “Miksełko”, “Pat” and other products whose name does not imply that you have to deal with the butter and mix the fat.
5. In the case of dairy note that in some of the products are permitted additives, and other non-existent. Additives are primarily in śmietanach termizowanych (the production of heat-treated) to other creams should not be added unless the manufacturer provides a sound technological justification for their use.
6. The complaint shall be made on the basis of proof of purchase, within two years, but before the expiry date. Can be sought: exchange for a product that does not have the drawbacks (eg. Not expired), or a low price, then you need to determine, if the price is expected to fall. When the defect is significant (eg. Falsification), you can request a cash refund, or terminate the contract.
