Last year was very successful for Polish exporters – Inwestycje.pl

Despite the ongoing embargo on imports into Russia’s agri-food products, Polish companies to sell their products abroad, will close 2014 with good results. Exporters with a high degree of optimism look at what will the next 12 months.

Russian embargo traders spent their businesses with the East awake at night, because the escalation of tension in Ukraine led to a fall in demand already in 2013. Therefore expected that the situation will get worse in the next year. Meanwhile, it turned out that 2014 years was not as bad as some analysts thought. Exporters zrównoważyli losses due to the prohibition of sales in Russia by increasing the level of exchange with other markets.

The data collected by the Export Credit Insurance Corporation show that only in November 2014, exports Polish increased 1.5 percent. and amounted to more than 13.4 billion zł year on year. It is estimated that in the whole of last year sale of domestic products abroad grew by 5.8 percent. and reached nearly 157.4 billion zł. Experts predict that within the next 12 months may be a further increase in exports. Estimates put the growth of up to approx. 10 percent.

Christopher Kuniewicz, CEO of Bibby Financial Services, believes that a good performance of exports in the face last year primarily active entrepreneurs who are faced with the partial closure of the market lymphatic Russian and Ukrainian sales restrictions (due to the turbulent situation in the country) immediately started, successful, look for alternative markets.

The decline in oil prices had a positive impact on the Polish enterprises engaged in export of services. This is largely a matter of transport companies, which operate both in the transport of Polish to the European Union, as well as between the EU Member States. Krzysztof Kuniewicz believes that oil depreciating translate into an increase in the competitiveness of these entities, although the rise of the dollar may weaken this effect.


 Indicators on exports, which proved to be the last year much better than expected, make that exporters have started extremely optimistic about the future. CEO of Bibby Financial Services notes, however, that the observed tendency of economists shortening cycles (phases slowdown and recovery in recent years, lasting only 1-2 years), makes it more difficult to forecast developments in the near future.

Despite the optimism of exporters is noticeable that in foreign trade they follow extreme caution, because the big problem is still overdue arrears, mainly relating to companies in the sector of small and medium-sized businesses.
