Competition “Feather 2015″ started on March 5 and amateur authors have until April 21 to submit their work. They can be up to three different jobs. The book can have up to 60 thousand. characters, ie a maximum of 33 pages of the manuscript. Work can not be shorter than 20 thousand. characters, which is approx. 11 pages. The song can be written in prose or verse, and should be a closed, coherent whole.
The competition consists of two steps. The first will be chosen the best text book. Results will be announced on June 11th. On the same day will begin the second stage – an illustration of the winning work. Will last until August 6. The results of this phase will be announced on 2 September. Ready book in an edition of 50 thousand. copies will hit stores on November 30, a few days before St. Nicholas. 2600 will be available in stores across the country Ladybugs. Interestingly, the competition was under the honorary patronage of the Ombudsman for Children.
Assessment of texts and illustrations deal with jury, composed of well-known journalists, book authors and illustrators, including Jaroslaw Gugała, Renata Piątkowska and Bohdan Butenko.
The prototype of the “Feather 2015″ is the Pingo Doce Children’s Literature Award – a competition that has been carried out by the Group Jeronimo Martins in Portugal. He enjoyed great popularity. Then the contest was declared in 1500 texts and 400 illustrations.
As the organizers say the Polish edition, which Jeronimo Martins Poland SA, the project “Feather 2015″ was born in response to the progressive decline in readership and declining interest in the books for the youngest audience.

The contest is open to persons of age, residing in the territory of the Polish Republic, which literary works or graphics have never been published in printed materials or publications numbered ISBN or ISSN. This means that the competition is not open to academics, authors of articles and books, and even students whose dissertations have been published as articles. Each participant may submit work in one or both categories.
High award is to encourage amateurs to participate in the competition. Until now, nobody had suggested to the authors of books for children such a high gratification. For the record – the Polish section of IBBY award in the category of books for children is 20 thousand. zł. Why, then, the organizer of the “Feather 2015″ decided on such a high bonus?
– Writing for children is challenge, which is not valued as much as the creation of an adult. High reward, we want to emphasize the importance of the competition, but also to give appropriate weight to children’s literature.
