14.01. Warsaw (PAP) – The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection imposed on the cable, the internet provider company Vectra penalty in the amount of 493 thousand. zł for renewing customers without the consent of the contracts concluded for a definite period.

Vectra automatically prolonged contracts for a specified period for the six-month period. Customers do not have the opportunity to decide on the continued use of the services. As reported in the message of the OCCP, Vectra already stopped such activities.

The proceedings were instituted against the operator in July of 2013. Doubts raised Office automatically extending consumer contracts for a specified period, which was 6 months.

“As a result of this practice, the consumer was not able to make an informed decision about the continued use of the services Vectra” – Office reported on Wednesday in a statement. According to the OCCP, when the agreement ends, the entrepreneur who wants to extend the contract for a further fixed term – should submit an appropriate proposal to the client.

The Authority also questioned the agreements are unaware of their condition changes against the obligation which requires telecommunications law.

In a statement sent to PAP Vectra announced that it does not agree with the decision of the OCCP, therefore, appealed against it.

“In proceedings before the Office presented a number of justifications for their position, informing about the benefits for subscribers coming from renewable automatically agreement and compliance with the law,” – said the Vectra.

In addition, the company announced that it had discontinued in the spring of 2013 years the use of the automatic renewal of the contract, which challenged the OCCP.
