Head of SME: Polish National Foundation will defend the good image of our country – Puls Biznesu

The 17 largest companies of the Treasury on Wednesday signed a letter of intent on the establishment of the Polish Foundation for the National. It is to promote the Polish economy abroad and a positive image of companies with the Treasury and their ongoing investment in the country and internationally.

The list of companies assuming the foundation were four energy groups – PGE, Enea Energa, Tauron; producers and sellers of gas and fuel PGNiG, PKN Orlen, Lotos Group; insurance companies and financial PZU, PKO BP Stock Exchange; Totalizator Sportowy, KGHM Group Azoty, Polish Armaments Group, Polish Security Printing Works, Polish Holding Real Estate, Polish State Railways.

PAP: What created the Polish Foundation for the National?

Treasury Minister Dawid Jackiewicz : the purpose of the foundation will, in particular, to promote and protect the image of Polish and our economy abroad, and create a positive public perception of investments made by the company with the Treasury. First of all, we want this to Polish entrepreneurs are better perceived in the world. In the wake of this will go better perception of our country in all other areas, ie .: culture, art, sport.

PAP: Who was the originator of this project?

DJ: the idea that formed the foundation was born in the minds of CEOs of many companies, supervisory board members, ministers, or those who are responsible for the dynamic development of the Polish economy. It will be possible only when we will be treated in a fair and equitable manner, on the same basis as other European countries. We do not expect any special privileges, but we want to about Poland not told untruths, for example, that it is not worth investing here because they do not work the judicial system if there is no clearly defined rules of the game or a sufficient number of qualified employees. We want these stereotypes about Polish ceased to repent and to burden our country. There are many hurtful opinions about Polish. They cover both investment opportunities in our country but also the achievements of Polish science, culture, history, customs of the Poles.

The State Treasury Companies lose millions if not hundreds of millions because stereotypes and distortions about Poland and Poles affect the loss of our investment credibility. Presidents of companies point to the difficulty in attracting investors and capital, the issuance of bonds. To prevent this, someone finally an organized, systematic, professional must ensure that the image was better. It was not to give another task to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but for the establishment of a specialized foundation, which will take care of that professionally support the activities of all institutions that strive for good relations with foreign countries.

PAP : which models the inspiration to create a foundation? Or in other countries, there are such entities?

D.J. .: There are many such institutions in the world. They operate in a different legal formula. These are often public institutions, government agencies. Some work locally, others are international. That’s what we wanted to get some of these institutions are showing concern for the country abroad in a credible and reliable. Some of them do it by means of international conferences, other major organizing campaigns in the media on an international scale. Such activities are many. That’s why you need to have the strong operators – the largest state-owned companies – because they are in a position by joining forces operate perceptible outside the country. It will be hard to ignore the voice in the international arena.

PAP: Where will the resources come on the activities of the foundation?

D.J. .: With two sources. The first is the premium paid by the interested parties themselves, who see the need of association. The second source will provide public collections, which the foundation will be able to lead; every citizen will be able to support the Foundation donation.

PAP: Is the foundation but will not compete with existing organizations involved in the promotion of Polish abroad, such as the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency?

DJ: There’s no conflict of interest. The Foundation will provide a reinforcing and complementing the actions of many of our government agencies, companies, institutions and diplomatic service. We’re looking for synergies, for example between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our institutions abroad and Polish Agency for Information and Foreign Investment, whose main task is to pull investors into Polish. The purpose of the foundation is mainly taking care of the good image of our country, which will be the greater willingness to invest in Poland, but also greater awareness of citizens of other countries about the qualities of our country.

PAP: What is the estimated annual maintenance costs?

DJ: At the moment it is too early to talk about specific amounts. It is to be expected, however, that it put before the foundation aims and scale of operations will involve budget calculated in millions of dollars.

PAP: Is involved in the creation and funding of a foundation state-owned company will be able to reduce your expenses on lobbying and promotions in overseas markets?

DJ: It will be the decision of each company. Each of them made decisions about joining the foundation, based on their own needs and assessment of the benefits from it. So it is for the authorities of these entities – founders to assess whether they need other promotional activities outside the foundation. The project involves 17 companies. This list is not exhaustive. We invite you to cooperate with various entities, including private.

PAP: Is the foundation will have branches abroad?

D.J. .: It will depend on its board. It will decide where and what tools best suited to attaining the objective is to promote the good image of Polish. Certainly there is no question of creating delegations, offices, subsidiaries only for their very existence. The Board will be elected by over a dozen council foundations laid down by the management companies of the Treasury.

PAP: When the earliest Polish Foundation National could be registered?

DJ: Now representatives of the companies proceed to work on a statute. We would like to in the next few weeks, the relevant corporate bodies in individual companies have agreed to conclude an agreement in the form of a notarial deed. Then, within the next few weeks, the foundation could be registered. I am convinced that from that moment Poland will become a major weapon in the efforts and struggle for the promotion of good, proper image of the Polish Republic and the Polish economy, promoting companies with the Treasury and Polish entrepreneurship, spreading in Poland and abroad of knowledge about our history, economy and Polish culture and patriotism.

PAP: Thank you.
