The new section of the A4: the longest highway in Poland entirely passable – Polish Radio

More than 41-kilometer section of the A4 motorway between Rzeszow and Jarosław was the last missing piece of this route, which runs from the Ukrainian border to the border with Germany.

In January, 2014. GDDKiA broke a contract for its construction with the company Polimex-Mostostal. The reason has been significant delays in construction. The tender for the completion won by a consortium of Budimex (leader) and Strabag. The contract with GDDKiA was signed in September 2014. The amount of over 719 million zł. In January this year. the agreement was annexed and the amount increased by nearly 216 million zł. Increasing the value resulted from the need to implement remedial programs including two viaducts over the railway line.

As the director of the area of ​​the company Budimex Grzegorz Domaradzki, putting the last section of the A4 is a historical event. – We are pleased that we were able to do this last missing motorway section. Now drivers can enjoy one string longest motorway in Poland, providing a comfortable journey from the western to the eastern border of the country – he stressed.

He added that the peak of the construction section of the works were involved approx. 600 workers, operators, drivers and approx. 190 employees of the technical inspection.

Satisfaction with devotion section does not hide also a board member of Strabag Wojciech Trojanowski, who pointed out that “today, Germany and Ukraine is closer to us than ever before.” – Construction of the last one, so much expected by all the episode, has a symbolic dimension. For us, as a construction company, is also a reason to be proud – said Trojanowski.

A spokeswoman for Rzeszów branch GDDKiA stressed that the dedicated portion of the highway is of paramount importance not only for the economic development of the whole country, but also for the Podkarpacie.

– Now the highway will move out transit traffic from several cities, including Rzeszów, Łańcut and Przeworsk. The route will also allow for the separation of local traffic from transit, and thus improve road safety national highway No. 4. “revive” economic areas adjacent to it, which will allow for the development of the region. Carpathian region becomes in fact a well connected with the West – noted Rarus.
