Mantas Bartuszka – CEO of Klaipedos Nafta noted that the LNG terminal began to operate as a regular source of gas for Lithuania.

Mantas hoped Bartuszka that its performance in the first year to convince customers of its efficiency and – consequently – the possibilities multiply operation.

Floating LNG terminal – it’s a special ship installations for the storage, handling and regasification of liquefied natural gas. In August last year, the state-owned LitGas Lithuanian Norwegian Statoil signed a contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG). For now, the agreement provides for the supply of 540 million cubic meters of gas a year.

Thanks gazoportowi Lithuania becomes much less dependent on supplies from Russia’s Gazprom, increases its energy security and is more likely to negotiate with the Russian company lower prices.
