The flagship government project approved by the Sejm – Polish Radio

In the case of families with one child you will need to meet the income criteria – 800 zł per family or 1200 zł for children with disabilities. These provisions were adopted by the Parliament Act introducing the program “Family 500 +”.


 

Such a program announced Prime Minister Beata Szydło already in his expose. She said that during the first hundred days of PiS rule will be introduced “after the first five hundred for the child from the second, and in families with lower incomes – from the first child.” She emphasized that the child is not a cost but an investment.

Just before the final vote, the Sejm, Prime Minister Beata Szydlo said it was the feast of Polish families. She added that “this day in which we can say that Poland joins all of these countries, who know that wise family policy is a matter of reason of state of every nation.”


 

Premier Law and Justice deputy noted that not yet passed one hundred days of the government of Law and Justice, and this project is implemented.

“Family 500+ in practice”

 

The application of the provision would have to be filed every year in residence. Resort family labor and social policy planned that the benefit will be paid from April.


 

The Minister of family, work and social policy Rafalska Elizabeth explained that the tasks associated with the introduction of the program will be implemented in the life of local governments. To get the money, you will need to submit an application – in person in the municipality or the Internet.


 

The provision of education is not included in income when determining eligibility for social assistance benefits, the maintenance fund, and family benefits.


 

Rafalska Minister also explained that the program this year will cost 17 billion zlotys, which are secured in the budget. Next year, it will cost about 23 billion zlotys. Municipalities will receive support for a two percent commission this year and one and a half percent in subsequent years. The call for proposals will begin in April. Payouts will commence no later than three months.


 

Further work

 

The Senate will consider on Friday a draft law introducing the “500+ Family.” In parliament a bill supported 261 deputies, 43 were against, and 140 abstained.


 

During the work of parliamentary opposition complained of amendments, among others, relating to the implementation of the “penny for penny” for slightly exceeding the criteria to enable the payment of benefits, the older the child turns 18 years of age and the introduction of the upper income criterion of two and a half thousand per family.

 

The amendments were rejected.
