Prostitution, smuggling and drugs included in the GDP. GUS: an increase of 1.7 … – Polish Radio

This is due to changes in the rules of calculation, so that the value of last year’s GDP rose by roughly 26 billion 300 million dollars.

In addition to the introduction of the new EU ESA2010 methodology, the calculation of this indicator also take into account the so-called black zone, or income from prostitution, drug trafficking and smuggling and cigarette production. The share of illegal activities in the last year amounted to 0.79 percent of GDP.
Proceeds of prostitution in 2013, the CSO estimated at 654 million zlotys, with drug trafficking nearly $ 10 billion, and cigarette smuggling for over 2 and a half billion.

The biggest change in 2013: 26.3 billion zł
New CSO GDP estimates take into account the years 2002-13. At this time, the impact of the changes to the level of this ratio ranged from 0.1 percent to 1.7 percent. The greatest change was recorded in 2013 – about 26 billion 300 million zlotys, and the lowest in 2008 – a little over one billion 800 million dollars.
New method of calculating is introduced across the European Union.
