Russia has discovered huge oil reserves in the Arctic – Polish Radio

The State company Rosneft jointly with ExxonMobil discovered the raw material in the borehole Uniwersiteckaja -1. Further work two petrochemical giants, however, can subvert Western sanctions, which will include, among others, Rosneft and his boss – Igor Sechin.

The American and EU restrictions involve the freezing Russian companies access to foreign technology. This includes the prohibition of cooperation with Western companies in the Arctic.

According to estimates, the Kara Sea may be related to the oil fields of Saudi Arabia. Igor Sechin said in a statement stresses that the oil field, where the discovery was made is called “Pabieda”, from the Russian – victory. Despite this success, not yet known whether oil from the wellbore can be acquired on a commercial scale. Rosneft will analyze more samples.

In 2011, Exxon and Rosneft signed an agreement worth $ 3.2 billion for the exploitation of the Arctic. Last week, the American Department of the Treasury has consented Exxonowi for a short extension of the ongoing month and a half of work, in connection with the forthcoming entry into force of sanctions. Previously, according to Reuters, the company has allocated $ 6,000,000 for lobbying in the American government, a more moderate approach to the issue of Washington’s restrictions.
