AmRest Holdings SE signed an agreement with Starbucks Coffee Company to acquire the network operator Starbucks in Germany (144 units) for an estimated 41 million euros. The Agreement shall enter into force on 23 May. Plans company based in Wroclaw are very ambitious. AmRest plans to triple the number of Starbucksów in Germany.

The largest part of the business AmRest Holdings is a KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Poland, but the cooperation with Starbucks is doing now increasingly important. It started in 2008 on the Czech market. Since then the company has expanded the scope of activity in the segment of the cafe on other markets: Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia, where the first local Starbucks is scheduled to open by mid-2016 years.

History of the brand Starbucks in Germany began in 2002 with the opening of two premises in Berlin. Currently, the network in the country has 158 cafes, of which 144 are residential own Starbucks, to be traded. The remaining 14 points are managed by independent licensees. German business represents the largest coffee chain Starbucks in mainland Europe, underlined.

– Germany is one of the most prosperous countries in the region and also one of the global leaders in terms of coffee consumption. The deal will strengthen the presence of AmRest on the market, a cafe, and will establish a strong position in Germany, the Starbucks brand as a leader in this segment – summarized in a statement. A founder of AmRest Henry McGovern added that the closing of the transaction will allow the multiplication of the scale of business of the company.

AmRest Holdings SE is the largest independent restaurant operator in Central and Eastern Europe and is headquartered in Wroclaw. The company is also developing activities in Western Europe, Russia, China and the United States. The company has 11 years is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
