EC: the EU signed a trade agreement with Canada CETA


Moscow, 31.10.2016 (“war and peace – the European Union signed a Treaty of economic trade with Canada (CETA), announced by the European Commission.
“Today, the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, the Chairman RE Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert fico and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau signed the agreement economic and trade CETA between the EU and Canada”, – stated in the message of 30 Oct.
“This agreement shows how we can shape the process globalizacyjne through the development of the modern trade agreements that will stand on guard for our values and set new standards for global trade. Through our agreement with Canada, we are building a bridge with our closest allies that will have a real impact on our exporters, entrepreneurs and workers. We know from experience that trading works in a simple way. When we get rid of unnecessary expenses, taking on bureaucracy, corp orations use new markets and hire more people,” said European Commissioner for trade Cecilia malmström referred to in the message.
the Agreement envisages, in particular, the elimination of approx. 99% of import duties, which will bring European exporters of industrial goods and agricultural equipment by more than 500 million savings per year. CETA also opens up the market for services facilitating access to jobs in Canada for engineers, accountants, architects, stated in the material.

the Commission stressed that the agreement wil l also lead to the elimination of restrictions in access to public procurement, establishing predictable conditions for investors and help prevent illegal copying of innovations and traditional products from the EU. The agreement also includes safeguards that would ensure that economic benefits are not achieved at the expense of democracy, environment, health and safety of consumers.
