Due to the low rates that the European Commission has proposed, most of the farmers of the instrument of withdrawal resigns – told Polish reporters minister Marek Sawicki.

Sawicki took part in the Belgian capital in the Congress of European Farmers, which was organized by the EU agricultural organization COPA-COGECA. European Commission data shows that the applications of Polish farmers for compensation totaled more than EUR 146 million. The total budget of the first EC aid program for the 28 EU countries amounted to 125 million euros.

– Farmers were convinced that withdrawal rates are at least covering the cost of production rates, and these rates are far below – the minister said. As emphasized when the producers learned that they will get a few cents per kilogram of end product, they decided that they will not use the instruments of the Union.

European Commission announced its decision on compensation August 30. Since then known, on what measures can count those producers who decided to take advantage of the support program.

Sawicki said that after the completion of the inspection process will eventually be known how many farmers decided to take advantage of the compensation. – surely the farmers do not agree to the withdrawal from the market, either through biodegradation for the amount of the order of several pennies – rated.

In accordance with the decision of the European Commission in the framework of most compensation can obtain farmers transferring goods under free distribution, for example. charitable organizations. The next week Sawicki and other EU agriculture ministers meet in Luxembourg. One of the topics to be once again the question of the Russian embargo.

– We are seeking primarily to farmers treated equally – those members of the organizations and unorganized – pointed minister, noting that in Poland only a few percent of farmers are affiliated. Due to the fact that in some EU countries subsidize agricultural organizations to compensation, farmers are more likely to use in withdrawing products from the market. In Poland – explained Sawicki – organizations are still under construction and do not have funds for such purposes.

– Polish farmers are in a much worse situation than German farmers, Danish or Dutch – rated.

In August, the European Commission launched an extraordinary support system for producers of fruits and vegetables, which aimed to stabilize the market after the introduction of an embargo by Russia. As part of these activities was released August 18th 125 million to compensate for the withdrawal from the market of some perishable fruits and vegetables. The amount was estimated based on the volume of exports to Russia.

But in mid-September, the European Commission has suspended this mechanism, because initial requests for compensation exceeded the level of 125 million euros, and some conclusions aroused objections concerned because production volumes several times larger than The average annual EU exports to Russia.
