The sharp decline began in mid-September, when the announced introduction of sanctions against Russia. The Kremlin, however, decided not to rescue the currency.
During the year, the value of the Russian currency against the dollar has fallen by nearly seven rubles. Central Bank announces that it intends to reduce the possibility of artificially adjusting the exchange rate, together with the introduction of a floating exchange rate. This is to take place by the end of this year.
