“This is the beginning of a regular line on the cargo trains between Lodz and Chengdu will run twice a week, “- explained in an interview with PAP Slawomir Knap, Director. multimodal transportation company HATRANS Logistics, which operates the call.

HATRANS Logistic CEO Thomas stressed in an interview Grzelak PAP that the launch of scheduled cargo that would not be a “one-way train” was not an easy undertaking. As part of the operating since 2013. Connections much easier it was to organize the fulfillment of containers on the Chinese side than Polish. Polish nominate producers who would be able to ensure regular supply and meets all the requirements of the Chinese, as well as logistical development of this transport took nearly a year.

Through the terminal to Polish Olechów boat went so far approx. one million tonnes of goods from China, among others, textiles, footwear, electronic equipment and household appliances, gadgets, elements of interior and garden or printing equipment. Approx. 90 percent. getting products to the Polish market, the rest were transported to other EU countries. At the same time, the other side has managed to dispatch just a single containers of Polish products.

Now, however – Grzelak opinion – exports of Polish food products to China is conducive to growing there of interest in purchasing a high-quality consumer goods. According to the President HATRANS Logistic, based Russian embargo on banning the import of agricultural products to Russia and their further sales there, there is now an obstacle in sending Polish products to China. He noted that the company has to provide from their partners that adequately protected – electronically, not only guarantees – the train will be passed intact by Russia.

Regular weekly cargo rail link from Chengdu to Lodz, called by the Chinese “New Silk Road” moved in April 2013. To date, there have been over 100 scheduled and 50 charter trips. At the beginning of the road train – leading from China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus to the terminal boat Olechów – lasted 14 days.

“We are working constantly to improve our turnaround this time and now we have reached up to 11 days and a few hours in relation Chengdu – Lodz” – explained Knap. That is three times faster than providing a container from China to Europe by sea, which takes up to 45 days .

According to the president HATRANS Logistic, development of cargo rail link is beneficial to the Chinese side for logistical reasons. As noted, export and import to the mid-southern China by sea ports increases costs and reduces competitiveness, and therefore for the province development of a railway is a way to become independent of shipping and development.

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan in the west of China, a population of 14 million inhabitants. The Chinese authorities have designated the city as a center of logistics, commercial, financial, scientific and technological west of the country. It’s also the main transport hub.

Lodz works closely with the capital of Sichuan. In June this year. China signed an agreement on cooperation between the province. and Sichuan Lodz, in Lodz took place while the Regional Forum Poland-China, during which the city of Chengdu office opened. Similar office – representing Lodz and region – operates in Chengdu since last year.
