As noted by the first president of the Warsaw Stock Exchange Wieslaw Rozłucki, the story of the bells on the Warsaw Stock Exchange started at the official opening of the stock exchange on July 2 in 1991. Then he began to sound on the WSE at the beginning and end of the trading session.

 

First bell served the market for more than 10 years

The bells of the oldest in Poland, foundry

 

Today, a new cast bronze bell is a gift exchange representatives of Poland’s oldest bell foundry. It was made at the Laboratory Ludwisarskiej Janusz and Maciej Felczyńskich especially for the 25th anniversary of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. This is a classic example of handicrafts and craftsmanship traditions hołdującego bell foundry.

 

– Everything we did to make this cast was made, we did manually. There is no question of supporting up any mechanical devices. The form of a bell is formed in several stages. Exactly as it was done centuries ago. We adhere to this tradition – said Maciej Felczyński, co-owner of the Foundry Bells.

 

Embellishments were done so. lost wax casting, already known in antiquity. The author of the graphic design is cooperating with Foundry artist, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts.

 

Sam cast bell takes about 10 seconds. Heated to over 10,000 degrees Celsius melt is poured into molds and then allowed to cool day. After removal from the mold bell is polished, hand-chiselled and partially painted.

However, the most important is the chemical composition of the alloy, wherein the bronze is ludwisarski, comprising from about 78 percent. copper and 22 percent. tin. We make sure that these proportions in the alloy were preserved – said Maciej Felczyński.
