Polls: Greeks will vote differently than Cipras? – Republic

Opinion polls conducted before the announcement by Alexis Ciprasa a referendum on Greece’s agreement with creditors shows that the majority of Greeks supports the conclusion of an agreement with creditors of the country.

Alco opinion poll institute showed that 57 per cent. among 1,000 respondents supported the conclusion of an agreement with creditors to Greece, while 29 per cent. in favor of breaking agreements with lenders.

In turn, the institute Kapa Research poll 47.2 percent. of respondents were in favor of the agreement – other sentence was 33 percent. respondents. 48.3 per cent. of respondents said they would not support any government measures that would move out of Greece from the euro zone.

The Greek parliament agreed to a referendum on July 5 on the conditions of the aid program, presented by international lenders. For the referendum voted 178 deputies, against – 120.

The referendum offered the day before Greek Prime Minister Alexis Cipras and asked the parliament to hold a request for it. In an emotional speech during a night debates in parliament, Cipras said that the referendum will take place regardless of whether the partners of Greece they like it or not. – In a country where democracy was born, we will not ask permission of Mr. (Jeroen) Dijsselbloema (head of the Eurogroup – ed.) And Mr (Wolfgang) Schaeuble (finance minister of Germany – Ed.) – Said Cipras. – We will not throw it away from the euro zone – he stressed. He also criticized for the lack of will of the creditors agreement.

Alexis Cipras called on Greeks to vote against the referendum proposed by the creditors, in his opinion in the form of an ultimatum, the conditions for further aid to Greece. Greek “no” to strengthen – as argued – government bargaining power in negotiations with creditors.
