“We discussed how to help farmers who are experiencing a big crisis at the moment and many are missing. You can not go on this phenomenon with indifference and this assistance must be guided very rationally, but directed primarily to those who have the assistance in particular need “- she said at a briefing the Prime Minister.
The Health Minister announced that the drought affected more than 0.5 million hectares of crops, mainly in the provinces: Lodz, Kujawsko-Pomerania, Wielkopolska and Mazowsze. As judged the most difficult situation the farmers who operate mixed, or grow the role and raising animals.

“Unfortunately, some farmers do not report their losses. They hope that the State will fall only one bid, again, we give you some low-interest loans. I want this offer was much wider, but to be reliably to provide farmers, I have estimated losses, very reliable and very fast. Then undoubtedly will set the matter for the Council of Ministers and I wonder how two parallel aid programs run “- said the head of government.
The Health Minister said that currently operate in the area of 674 committees, which estimates the amount of damage to crops. She announced that the number of these committees will be increased in order to estimate the losses were known as soon as possible. “I think that until 20 August should stop estimating these losses,” – said the prime minister.
She added that the drought are covered by many types of crops, mainly spring and winter wheat, oilseed rape, as well as shrubs, fruit and tobacco. “Therefore, we will comprehensively evaluate these losses. (…) The government program, aid is dependent on how massive losses will be caused by the drought,” – noted Kopacz.
Raciąż away from approx. 3 km Sierakowo prime minister visited the village with more than 65 hectares of the farm affected by the drought. His 28-year-old owner, Thomas Zglinicki told the commission estimated the loss of crops, including cereals, corn and meadows, there are more than 60 percent. “It’s dry. No water. Drought affected everything. We have to sell cows to have money to buy feed,” – said a farmer who cultivated approx. 100 head of cattle.

“We will work within the government in the search for reserves in the field of social assistance, there is no possibility that today the state took the brunt of the full damages resulting from a reduction in yield” – said last Wednesday the minister. Sawicki said then that “the amount of social assistance will depend on budgetary reserves, which will be under the ministry to work out.” This can be a help in the form of a payment per hectare of crops destroyed by drought in the amount of 100-150 zł.
