Luke Kasper, IAC: preparations for next year’s World Youth Day deal with the Organizing Committee of WYD Krakow in 2016 and the National Organizing Office of World Youth Day in Warsaw. What is the division of competences between them?
Diana Golec: Preparing World Youth Day, to be held in Krakow, belongs to the local Organizing Committee. In parallel, preparations are underway for the so-called dioceses. “Days in the Dioceses” July 20-25, preceding the central events in Krakow.
– National WYD Organizing Office in Warsaw has three tasks. The first is a pastoral dimension – we are responsible for the creation of a program of spiritual preparation in Polish dioceses for World Youth Day. It includes three phases – each for one year preceding the WYD – “Chat with the Word” (2014) and “The Heart 2.0″ (2015). Each of them referred to the specific blessing of Christ. In December this year. start of the third stage of formation, associated with the blessing, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”. National Organizing Office in Warsaw also watches over the peregrination of the symbols of WYD.
– Our second task is to inform the media about the state of preparation for WYD in all dioceses. As for the “Days in the Dioceses”, ie the week preceding the central events of World Youth Day in July 2016. In Krakow.
The third area
preparations, which are the responsibility solely KBO in Warsaw, is a nationwide project “Ticket to Brother”. It involves the collection of funds from which will be financed arrive at WYD youth from the East. Arrival of pilgrims will certainly not be dependent only on the collected amount – they themselves also raising funds – it is about the greatest possible support to these young people. We want from the East came 300 thousand. young people. There are already some groups declaring “adoption” of pilgrims, which is collecting funds for the arrival of a specific group of young people – eg. The parishioners of Warsaw Bemowo raise money for WYD participants from Belarus. Conditions of arrival They also discussed separately diocesan WYD coordinators and their counterparts in a specific country. More precise estimates of the number of pilgrims will be known when the registration will begin in July, WYD participants.
– There is therefore no conflict when it comes to the division of powers between Warsaw and Krakow?
– Conflict is not, what is more: each other support in areas such as pastoral section, or communication. In turn, logistics or finances are the responsibility of the diocesan WYD centers in which last individual preparation for the “Days in the Dioceses”. Each diocese creates its own program for the adoption of pilgrims and takes care of all matters related thereto. Even Registration for WYD will take place separately. First, the group will have to report through an electronic system for central events in Krakow, and then we immediately take it to the Diocese selected for “Days in the Dioceses”.
– symbols of WYD pilgrimage is a moment that begins diocesan good preparation for next year’s events in Krakow?
– Signs of WYD, which is the Cross and Icon of Our Lady Salus Pupuli Romani actually bring big revival to each diocese, which haunt. But this is not the only incentive to take action. Both the youth and pastors are full of enthusiasm and ideas. At the turn of January and February. held a National Forum for Youth Ministry, during which talked about his preparations dioceses, which already have established centers WYD divided into thematic sections and distribution of tasks to specific groups of volunteers. Indeed, to a large extent were the dioceses in which the pilgrimage has already taken place. In contrast, other dioceses, realizing how far they are behind, took a very firm grip. Today has been running every diocese, although not all are equal human resources, which could be included in the preparations. Therefore uses the already proven methods of organization.
In the Archdiocese of Warsaw through its coordinator, Fr.. Thomas Zapertego was founded concise instructions for “Days in the Dioceses”, designed for the parish. Upowszechniliśmy information about this in the media, so that the phones rang from other dioceses for the information of this report so as to be able specific solutions adapted to the conditions in a given diocese. This is an example of cooperation between dioceses.
– It’s easier probably to create such a program dioceses, who already know that they will host the pilgrims from a specific country.
– Not only. An important factor is the previously gained experience of the organizers, for example. Developed some very good principles of volunteering. In Warsaw, they are responsible for it people who have collaborated with the volunteers of the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising. They hints to how to specifically organize a party of pilgrims in the parishes. It is in fact very sophisticated logistical. In addition, many priests and volunteers were already several times at the World Youth Day and know what to expect. So they can already foresee a lot of things and train those volunteers who are just beginning their adventure with WYD.
Many of the diocese is already very advanced when it comes to the state of preparations for WYD. In addition to training for volunteers, leaders or entertainers, they are also conducted media training, so that young people can narrate a professional manner with the diocese. Today in several dioceses young people on their radio shows and writes for WYD local press. We want to improve their skills even more, because in 20-21 June National Organizing Office with Stacją7 conduct media workshops, which are invited representatives of the media section of the centers of both diocesan World Youth Day, and young people gathered at the ministry of religious communities, preparing for the World Youth Day.
Throughout Poland
young people preparing for World Youth Day also remembers about his colleagues and koleżankach from the East. They want to assist them in meeting resources to come to Polish in July 2016. How much are creative in this respect, shows an example of the Diocese of Siedlce. Recently conducted in the full success of the campaign “Take kilometer” which consisted of the collection of resources needed to fund the arrival of young people from Bolivia and Chad. The action involved all parishes, have been collected approx. 400 thousand. zł. I think it not only shows how generous they are Catholics, but how much can be done when everyone united around one idea.
