Without major changes on Wall Street – Banker


             Friday’s session on the New York stock exchanges did not bring significant changes in the major indexes. The focus was data from the US economy, which once again has recently been weaker than expected.
           

 

At the close the Dow Jones Industrial rose by 0.11 per cent. to 18 272.56 points. Nasdaq Composite fell by 0.05 per cent. to 5048.29 points. S & amp; P 500 zwyżkował by 0.08 percent. percent to 2,122.73.

 

US equity markets helped at the end of this week, the weakening of the dollar and the calming of the situation on the debt market, where after a strong rally earlier stabilized the profitability of US government bonds.


 

The weakening of the US currency and lower US bond yields is a result of weaker than expected data from the US economy in the last few days. After the disappointing readings indicators of retail sales and PPI inflation earlier this week on Friday, disappointing data on industrial production and consumer confidence.


 

US industrial production in April fell by 0.3 percent. mom. Analysts had expected no change in index of industrial production MoM. In March the index fell by 0.3 percent. after correction, against a drop of 0.6 percent. before correction.

 

index level of optimism among US consumers, developed by the University of Michigan, fell in May by 88.6 points. – Given the preliminary calculation. Analysts expected in May index level of 95.9 points.


 

index of manufacturing activity in New York state rose in May to plus 3.09 points. from minus 1.19 points. in the previous month. Analysts had expected the index would be plus 5.0 points. (PAP)
