Bishops’ pastoral letter to be read Sunday in all churches throughout the Polish.
“Blessed. O. Papczyński cared about the poor, the sick and the dying, supported asylums and hospitals, comforted the afflicted, demanded of the rejected and treated unfairly” – write the bishops in the letter, shared PAP.
They emphasize it, that the canonization of Blessed Father Stanislaus’ life is an invitation for us to “re-embraced the mercy of God, and renew the grace of our baptism, we on the free love of God responded with love to Him and charity towards the living and the dead.” O. Papczyński – as they write the bishops – said that “desiring God’s mercy, we provide them,” adding that “he would not let go without any need of support.”
Polish hierarchs emphasize in the letter that “God is raising constantly new witnesses, who are in a particular place and time to help people accept the gospel and live it every day. Some of them, the Church recognizes and proclaims the saints.” They recall, however, that in a few days, on June 5 in Rome, Pope Francis will announce two new saints, among them Polish – Stanislaus of Jesus and Mary Papczynski, founder of the Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. “Through the canonization of the church to announce that the new saints are authentic models of life and intercessors with God, and that their message is important for the Church and the world of our time” – wrote the bishops in the letter.

Referring to a letter to the Jubilee Year of Charity, the bishops recall the words of. Papczyński, who said: “desiring God’s mercy, we have to provide it to another man.” (…) “Aware of the growing scourge of alcoholism, word and example he taught sobriety and pointed the way to inner freedom. Any charity undertook the love of God and man, but also the love of the fatherland” – says in the letter.
Father Papczyński was born in 1631. In Podegrodzie, near Stary Sacz. At age 23 he joined the Piarists. He is the founder of the first Polish Religious Institute for men – the Congregation of Marian Fathers. As the letter of the bishops was an outstanding preacher, a master of the spiritual life, a lecturer in rhetoric and writer. He died in the odor of sanctity in Góra Kalwaria, September 17, 1701 year.
