Dangerous toys for children. “Too loud, dangerous” – TVN24 BiS

OCCP assessed that this is a slight decrease compared with 2014. When the percentage of irregularities amounted to 37.8 percent. As demonstrated by last year’s checks on toys frequently they lacked information required by the regulations. Some toys have been tested in the laboratories of the OCCP. The auditors checked their quality and whether or not contain prohibited chemicals.



The loud, with poor design

On the 473 tested samples of 155 raised objections. According to the OCCP toys were too loud, too have small parts that can cause choking, have structural defects.

In terms of chemical composition found too high content of phthalates: for 103 toys tested exceeded occurred in 30. Phthalates are used to produce soft elements, eg. balls, dolls and toys for babies. Acceptable levels of phthalates in toys is 0.1 percent. by weight (including the additive). Higher concentration is dangerous for children because it has a negative effect on the endocrine (in particular hormones related to reproductive later).

As highlighted in the Communication of the OCCP, Trade Inspection activities have led to the elimination of irregularities by most traders. They completed the missing information, some withdrew from the market toys comply with the requirements. In other cases, the President of the OCCP issued 19 decisions ordering the withdrawal from the market of products and informed consumers about the irregularities.



How to pay?

OCCP reminds that the adoption of the return of a toy that has no flaws, only you do not like the child depends on the goodwill of the seller. As for the return of a toy purchased online store, it can be up to 14 days without giving any reason. Customers should pay attention to whether the toy is suitable for the child’s age, if they have information on allergenic substances. It is also important that the toys have the CE mark to the effect that the product meets the essential safety requirements.

Control of Trade Inspection was held throughout the country, and took, among others, shops, wholesalers, importers and manufacturers. Operators control were selected by the Regional Inspectorates of the Trade Inspection based on knowledge of local market conditions, results of previous inspections and incoming complaints.
