KE sued Poland ws. Bank deposits. Minister Morawiecki spoke – Money.pl

Poland quickly implement EU rules on bank deposit guarantees and avoid the same financial penalties. So assured in Brussels Deputy Mateusz Morawiecki.


On Thursday, the European Commission brought a lawsuit against Poland to the EU Court of Justice in connection with the delays in the adoption of the Directive, even though the work in Poland are already at the final stage.

– We have decided to take such a step, because this directive is really important – said a spokeswoman for the Commission’s Vanessa Mock. As to the provisions of 2014 which provide greater protection for bank deposits across the Union. Were kept guaranteed savings accounts to 100 thousand euros and the payment of money in case of bankruptcy of banks to be faster and easier. Deadline for implementation of the legislation passed in early July of last year.


– Unfortunately, our predecessors have neglected this issue, because it already should have been dealt with, but the Council of Ministers very soon it took – stressed in Brussels Deputy Morawiecki.

He added that within a few weeks of the directive should be implemented. If that happens, then the Commission will withdraw the lawsuit and the case will be finished, because the Court does not have time to deal with it.
Deputy Morawiecki also said reporters that he should not be attributed to this lawsuit a bad attitude to Polish.

– The Commission is rightly dissatisfied with the state not to implement the directives in the various Member States and wants to curb all these delays, because the lack of implementation is the lack of harmonization of legislation – said Deputy Prime Minister. Mateusz Morawiecki assured that despite unimplemented Directive, Poland has one of the strongest in Europe, bank guarantee fund. – Deposits are well protected and deposits are safe – said Deputy Morawiecki.


May 20 provisions on bank deposit guarantees accepted Parliament, thus it is still only the Senate and signed by the President, the directive next month was implemented.
