Representatives of the steel company, which accounts for almost 70 percent of the market in Poland, emphasize that security of supply in the coming a few days will be crucial to maintain continuity of production. JSW has already announced that it might not be able to provide the raw materials on time.
On Thursday, ArcelorMittal Poland expressed deep concern the situation in JSW and halting the supply of coking coal in Zdzieszowice and Krakow. The company alerted inter alia, that after exhausting three days of inventory of damaged can there be nine coke oven batteries.
On Saturday, a representative of the company ArcelorMittal announced that the supply of coking coal from JSW not yet been resumed. – Yesterday we received a small transport of coal type 34, which, even in the short term does not improve our situation – the company says.
The company is able to secure supply in the medium and long term – soon have come from coal ships overseas. This does not affect the situation in the short term.
– Security of supply in the next few days will be crucial to maintain continuity of production, so we hope that JSW shipping will resume on Monday, – Sylvia Winiarek stressed, a spokeswoman for ArcelorMittal Poland.
JSW Coal supplies, among other things, two coking plants Zdzieszowice ArcelorMittal Poland and Krakow, with total production capacity in excess of 4.5 million tonnes. On Thursday, the company reached a letter of JSW, indicating a very high probability of the notice by the company of force majeure – because of protests and strikes in the mines.

From Wednesday in the mines of JSW takes an indefinite strike. JSW has recently announced austerity plan, arguing that it is necessary to permanently improve the condition of the company. On Thursday, trade unionists discussed with the supervisory board of JSW, then RN deliberated for several hours with the board. The result was, among others, subsequent invitation compounds to enter into talks with the management.
The first such meeting was held on Friday – as requested by the union, without the participation of the President of JSW Jaroslaw Zagórowskiego. Further talks are scheduled to start on Monday morning. In addition to union representation and management of JSW (without Zagórowskiego) have in them to take part b. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour Longin Komołowski as a mediator and two observers: the head of the supervisory board of JSW Joseph Myrczek and a representative of the Inter-Strike and Protest Committee-Silesian Region Dabrowski.
JSW Group is the largest producer of coking coal 35 (hard) and a significant producer of coke in the European Union. These include the Zabrze coking plants, and coking Friendship Wałbrzyskie Mining oak wood – they produce a total of approx. 4 million tons of coke per year.
