Currently, the National Debt Register Economic Information Bureau appears 9.9 thousand. indebted companies operating in the agricultural sector. A year ago, there were almost 20 percent. less.
– These figures do not seem to be huge, and if not for their rapid growth, probably be talking about the fact that the industry catches a slight shortness of breath, but it does not have very big problems with solvency. Unfortunately, the situation in the past 12 months has deteriorated significantly. It is a signal that the sector is going well – says CEO KRD Adam Lacki.
increased the average amount of debt
About one-quarter of the 35 to 43 k. zł – also increased the average amount of debt per one debtor. It has to be paid an average of 4 outstanding invoices. Most of them, almost 130 million zł, agricultural companies in arrears to banks, loan companies, leasing and insurance. 50 million zł have to give enterprises the commercial sector, 46 million zł terms of the processing industry to 27 million zł debt taken over while the debt collection companies.
Łącki notes that these figures refer to companies in the agricultural and agriculture-related, and It is only a fraction of a situation in which there is agriculture. Problems have also farms, especially small ones, which in Poland is most.
Okay cope only large farms
Well cope only large farms which can afford to invest in innovation, not only involving the purchase of more modern equipment, but also understood as increasing production efficiency and improving the competitiveness of the offer – draws attention to KRD.
According to the President reliable companies Miroslaw Sedlak, Polish farms are still too small works in which too many people and still too little export. In terms of productivity in agriculture, compared to other European Union countries, Poland performed poorly. Although productivity in agriculture is increasing, its pace will not allow us to catch up with advanced countries.
Farmers are difficult debtors
In the opinion of the creditors, farmers are difficult debtors. Companies that work with farmers accustomed to long waiting times for payment.
When on behalf of our clients we call the debtor, we hear from a farmer that will pay, when pigs grow or if beets obrodzą. Creditors know that farmers get a big injection of cash when you sell your production, therefore, agree to extend the payment terms of up to several months. However, the longer the delays, however, of taking action, the more difficult to recover the money later – explains the director of the Department of Debt Collection Kaczmarski Inkasso Radosław horse.
The farmers also give their contractors trade credit, involving the deferment of the payment deadline. But such procrastination time payment leads to the fact that the farms themselves into debt. They do not receive payment for goods sold, but must purchase eg. Seeds, fertilizers, equipment, food for animals. Themselves often need to borrow. It creates a vicious circle that leads to loss of liquidity – notes Łącki.
