The World Health Organization recommends raising the excise tax on cigarettes – tells “Gazeta Wyborcza”.
WHO recommends to increase the minimum level of excise duty to 75 per cent. As the manufacturers claim, the increase would translate into an increase in price of a pack of cigarettes from 13.5 to 41.3 zł zł. The increase would be so large because of the complicated structure of the tobacco excise tax in our country.The tobacco industry had already protested against the rush in windowaniu excise duty. According to her calculations, from 2004 to 2013. Rate of corporation tax in Poland increased by 245 percent. This translated into a rapid rise in prices and drove the gray zone.
