Details and further steps of cooperation will be the subject of negotiations. For shipments of e-commerce we need of course the appropriate warehouse. Therefore, immediately after the agreed business plan, we take action related to the commencement of its construction. We are also talking with the Polish Post to China and vice versa drive train postal delivery – he stressed.
The group PKP Cargo in cooperation with a US company, Greenbrier intends to start in Szczecin joint production of freight cars. The head of PKP Cargo noted that “production cars on their own is about 15 per cent. Cheaper than buying ready-made”.
– But this decision was taken in view of the still three important factors. Firstly, in the next few years it will be necessary to restore a large part of our fleet, which now counts 25 to 30 years. Secondly, the changed business conditions for the transport of coal and today’s better to have wagons with a slightly different design – shorter, but with higher sidewalls. Such cars can be simply more fit in one train. If we today have the equipment, we would be even more competitive because the number of cars in the composition directly affects the efficiency of operations. The third argument for starting production on their own cars are owned by our resources, ie infrastructure and qualified professionals. The production line will be built in belonging to the Railway Rolling Stock Repair Plant Cargotabor in Szczecin and specialists employed there, after the necessary training and doinwestowaniu, will be able to quickly meet this task – he said.
He added that the company wants to target produce approx. 500 wagons a year.
