The government has a plan for Polish rivers. The need for 60 billion zł – Polish Radio

Radio Information Agency met the main assumptions Development Programme Inland Waterways.

Implementation of the plan is to last about 15 years

Deputy Minister of Maritime and Inland Navigation, Jerzy Materna said that the implementation of this plan is to last about 15 years. Resort wants to rebuild the Polish part of the three international waterways. As for the E30 (Danube, Bratislava – Baltic Sea, Szczecin), E40 (Baltic Sea, Gdańsk – the Black Sea, Odessa) and E70 (Atlantic, Antwerp – Baltic Sea, Klaipeda). This means meeting the requirements of at least the fourth grade navigation (routes available for units of length – 85 meters, width – 9.5 meters draft – 2.5 – 4.5 meters, deadweight – 1250 to 2500 tonnes).

Over the next 4 years, the Ministry wants to restore the navigability of the Odra river, between Wroclaw and Szczecin. The minister claims that it does not mean the restoration of fourth grade navigation. The plan also envisages the completion of the barrage in Malczyce to 2018, construction of new degrees and Lubiaz Ścinawa (all three villages in Lower Silesia) and investments in container in Raciborz. The program also envisages the construction of the Canal connecting the Silesian Oder with the Vistula and the connection with the Czech Republic.

Deputy Minister believes that Poland should join it to the European Agreement on Main International Waterways meanings (AGN). This will allow you to obtain funding from Brussels for the modernization of waterways.

1/3 of the Oder consume użeglowienie

As the ministry estimates, the implementation of the plan, within several years, may absorb about 60 billion zlotys. 1/3 of this amount will consume użeglowienie Oder. More than 10 billion is an expense of the canal between the two largest Polish rivers. Another 31 billion it will cost to restore the navigability of the Vistula river, between the capital and Gdansk. According to the caller IAR, expenditures will be offset within a few years.

Deputy Materna explains that the money for the program will come from several sources. In his opinion, in addition to funds from the European Union, the modernization could involve money from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and the European Fund for Strategic Investment (popularly called Plan Juncker). It also counts on the financial commitment of some governments and energy companies that would invest in power plants, built on the steps of the water.

The Ministry of Maritime Economy will present details of the plan at the beginning of April in Wroclaw.
