Dijsselbloem: there will be talks with Greece until the referendum – Banker

The finance ministers of the eurozone countries agreed during a conference call that there would be further talks ws. Aid to Greece before Sunday’s referendum in this country on the conditions for further loans – said the head of the Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem.

“Given the political situation, the rejection of an earlier proposal (the lenders to Greece – PAP), the referendum which will be on Sunday, and a campaign to + not + in this case led by the Greek government, we see no grounds for further talks at this point” – she said in a video message of the conference call on Wednesday the head of the Eurogroup of finance ministers.

Dijsselbloem noted that in the coming days there will be talks or at Ministers, nor between the Greek authorities and representatives of the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank.

“We are waiting for the outcome of the referendum. I am sorry because of this situation, taking into account the large Greeks determination to be part of Europe and remain in the euro area “- said the Chairman.

The Eurogroup confirmed that there is no possibility of extending the aid scheme which expired at the end of June.

The Ministers discussed the letter he sent earlier to lenders, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Cipras. It declared that it is ready to sign a new agreement with the EU and IMF, but did not give up at the same time with their demands. He indicated that he would like to maintain the reduced VAT rate for the Greek islands and transitional periods for changes in the pension system. “At this point simply accepted these proposals for information” – said the head of the Eurogroup.

Earlier negatively on the list Ciprasa spoke German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, who stressed that he sees no possibility of concluding an agreement before the referendum scheduled for Sunday on the aid scheme.

Also, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has ruled out a referendum on Sunday to take before talking about a new aid program for the country mired in debt.

Another line adopted France. President Francois Hollande said that France wants the euro zone pushed to conclude an agreement with Greece before Sunday’s plebiscite.

“The agreement must be reached before the referendum, because after him there will be too much sense. (…) If it does not happen, we will have to wait for the plebiscite, and in such a situation, there is always the risk that there will be a period of chaos and uncertainty “- he explained Hollande.

European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis rated turn that fast agree a new aid program for Greece would be possible under the condition that the authorities in Athens will want an agreement and will be constructive.

“We are now in a new situation. We have to discuss the new program, because the former has expired. (…) We still want an agreement” – assured Dombrovskis at a press conference in Brussels.

In the afternoon televised address, Greek Prime Minister again called on Greeks to vote in the referendum “no”, that is against the adoption of financial assistance under the terms of the creditors. “The response + not + does not mean breaking with Europe, but the return to Europe of values; + not + indicates strong pressure” – he argued.

According to Ciprasa rejection in the plebiscite proposal for creditors “has no connection with Greece staying in the euro area.”

After the failure of negotiations on the terms of unlocking the last installment of the second support program for Greece, the country was unable to repay the Tuesday installment of the debt to the IMF in the amount of 1.55 billion euros, which in practice is considered insolvent. In this situation, Greece’s other creditors may require the acceleration of debt repayment. Dombrovskis said on Wednesday that the European Commission recommends that the euro zone countries to refrain from such actions in connection with retention by Athens with repayment to the IMF.
