Szczurek: We have constructed a proposal for tax cuts – Wyborcza.biz

“This is the nicest thing I can do the finance minister,” – said in Polsat News Szczurek, but did not provide any details.

The prime minister and head of PO Ewa Kopacz announced on Wednesday that platform program, which will shortly be submitted, will be among others, proposals for changes in taxes. “He announced the presentation of our program and it will be soon. I will say then that tax, which will apply. This will be one of the elements of our election program,” – said Health Minister at a press conference in Warsaw.

The finance minister was asked in Polsat News about the chances of lowering the corporate tax rate. He stressed that “the Polish CIT is one of the lowest in Europe.”

“What is needed in CIT, is to make sure that the playing conditions are equal for all”, – he noted Szczurek. “Those who carry out economic activities in Poland should pay tax here and it is important that we all had the same taxes and so was protected competition” – he added.

One of the VAT rate?

The theme of the talks was the matter of unification of VAT rates. The finance minister admitted that the introduction of a single rate would mean a significant increase in the VAT eg. For food. In turn, the reduction in VAT, eg. A rate of 5 percent. would mean that there would be no money for pensions and social benefits.

“I think it is worth considering one VAT rate at the same time recouping effects for less earners in a different way” – he said. “But this is a subject very difficult, very hot politically, so to do something well, do not bother to discuss it in the coming months,” – said the head of the Ministry of Finance.

Commenting on the situation of Greece, Szczurek asserted that Polish finances are stable and that our financial system has no ties with Greece. At the same time he admitted that “these are turbulent times, so public finances should be protected”. “That is why we issue bonds in reserve that in case of any major disturbances there were no problems” – he said.
